Rant about "Poems" posted May 18th 2007, 3:09AM

Mood: About to EXPLODE!

I'm so tired of seeing all this random shit they call "poems" written by lame and angsty preteen and early teens on sA that get all these, "Wow! Wonderful poem!" comments.
Because they AREN'T wonderful poems.
They're utterly terrible.

I'm sorry I'm so frank, but I'm serious.
It's basically talking
In different
Lines like this
Talking about
All this random bullshit
About hurting and wanting to cut myself
And all that random bullshit ((LOL I RHYMED))

I'm actually one that's reluctant to critique and say mean things about other people's poems because it's from their hearts and everything, but all this bullshit I see is NOT from their hearts. If it is, their hearts are terribly shallow and stupid.

I'm not an amazing writer; I'm not an expert and English and literature, but even I know what a PROPER poem should be. POEMS are NOT bullshitting buckets of angst. A poem has a PURPOSE. A poem has a MESSAGE. A poem has DEPTH. A poem is NOT a bunch of cliches and bad grammar compiled by some angsty preteen about how fucking depressed they are because their heart is oh so sadly broken so they hide behind their greasy emo hair.

I'm done ranting. =)
